1. How long will it take before I can get a job in IT?
A: This would depend on which course you choose and how quickly you get through the course. It would be advisable to speak to one of our careers consultants so that they can look at your circumstances and give you a realistic time scale on how quickly we can get you working in IT.
2. What do I need to do to start working in IT?
A: Although it is possible to start working in IT without certification, if you want to progress quickly then you will need to have the certifications and work experience that employers are seeking. At Joskos we can provide you with both, so you can reach your ideal role in the shortest possible time.
3. How hard is it to work in IT?
A: With the right training and study, learning IT is NO different than learning any new skill. Also it’s easier to find work in IT than most other industries – with the current shortage of IT professionals, people who are certified with work experience are finding work even easier, as well as increasing their overall salary package.
4. Can I work in IT without getting certifications?
A: Yes is the simple answer, you may get a basic low-paid entry level role without a certification. However, employers are more likely to go with a candidate that has a certification than one who doesn’t. It also allows you to earn more money and move up the career ladder faster. The small time that you invest now will allow you to reach your goals much sooner.
5. I am currently working. How do I get certifications without leaving my job?
A: Many of our students have been career-changers who have gained IT certifications without having to stop working. We offer flexible training options through the Virtual Learning Centre, our online training portal.
6. Can I study Part-Time?
A: Yes you can. At Joskos we will create a training package that fits around your job / lifestyle. Speak to a Joskos careers consultant to discuss the various options.
7. How much time will I need to spend studying each week to get certified?
A: The more time you spend studying the course, the faster you will gain your certifications. We provide you with study techniques that enable you to use your time effectively, but as a general rule of thumb, if you are working you would need to put in at least 1-2 hours per day.
8. Realistically, how much money can I make in the IT industry?
A: The national average salary for IT professionals is higher than in most industries. Have a look at our careers and recruitment page to see how much you can earn with each certification you gain.
9. How many jobs are there in the IT industry?
A: The IT industry is growing faster than most industries and there is a shortage of CERTIFIED staff. This means that these positions are in demand and therefore the salaries are now higher than ever before. It is predicted that an extra 140,000 jobs will become available heading into the 2012 Olympics and this growth will continue.
