Independent Jewish Day School
The Independent Jewish Day School (IJDS) is a modern Orthodox school in Barnet, London. The mixed academy caters to primary school children between the ages of 4 -11 years old. Realising their ICT equipment was becoming outdated and ineffective, the school required a managed service partnership. The goal was to modernise their ICT, deploy new equipment and advance the school’s ICT curriculum.
Together the Independent Jewish Day School and Joskos Solutions drafted a step-by-step plan. The plan would ensure immediate improvements to the schools ICT and a clear path and vision for the future that the school’s Senior Leadership team can feel confident in.
A Fresh Start
First the school’s ICT infrastructure was updated. Joskos Solutions was brought in to update the schools network, wireless system, server and backup systems. Secondly, the ICT suite was completely removed. The school wanted more mobility in the classroom prompting the move away from desktop computers. Joskos assisted the school with acquiring new laptops for the students and staff. The laptops were reimaged to better suit the school’s unique dynamic environment.
The interactive whiteboards were replaced with much more modern and attractive interactive flat panels from SMART Technologies to better facilitate learning and classroom interaction for the students. Today children are very familiar with touchscreen technology so they find interactive flat panels intuitive to use. SMART interactive flat panels are designed with “plug in and play” capability making it easy for teachers to use with minimal set up. The interactive display capabilities, easy to access features and cloud based connectivity make interactive flat panels the central hub of the class room as they promote collaboration between students in a fun and interactive manner.
As part of our managed services, Joskos Solutions offers the provision and management of network-based services, applications and equipment to schools. A dedicated engineer was assigned to the Independent Jewish Day School, providing onsite specialist skills and knowledge.
